Our physical activity plan for the course will consist of a variety of activities where we will implement the importance of daily exercise to strengthen bones and muscles. We will focus on the benefits of daily exercise and how much exercise that our children should receive daily. We will also cover in the course the concept of healthy eating.

Below is an outline that we will follow for the course

Unit 1
  1. Why we exercise
  2. What are the health risks of being sedentary
  3. Introduction of body movement activities using space.

Unit 2
  • Recreational Games and Sports
  • Healthy Eating
  • Learning Good Sportsmanship

I would like to have the other students in the group to share their input on what you think how much exercise we need on a daily basis. What do we risk by living a sedentary lifestyle as far as health concerns.

Can you give examples of what healthy eating consist of and what we can do to modify our diet.

  1. Such important lessons Coach Hillman. I suppose my common sense suggestions are: cut out as much sugar from your diet as possible, try to eat "whole" foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. And elevate your heart rate ate least 20 minutes a day. Take the stairs! Move around. Get fresh air :)

  2. Water!! Make sure to drink plenty of water each day. Water is so important each day and it is something that I struggle with along with a lot of students.

  3. We've got to get outside! Sometimes that's hard to achieve living in apartments or a town without a lot of outdoor activities. It's definitely key to cut down on sugar. The most improvement I've ever seen in my health is when I cut out sugar and fast food. It makes such a difference. I try to stay away from processed foods and would like to cut back on the amount of meat I consume.
